Sorry to make another post I forgot to mention this I'm the last one I just made

Flywheel lapping is it the black center part of this flywheel set up I have that needs to be lapped in

basically you smear lapping paste on the crank tail then fit the fly assembly and move it back and forth and rotate it until you get a nice finish on the crank, the problem is that you cant rotate the assembly if you fully fit it over the crank..

Right yeah I see as the clutch will mesh with the primary gear is it best to strip the clutch kit down and do it

You only need to lap the item which engages the taper on the crankshaft, not the complete assembly.

Good, have fun! Not a job that can be rushed....

 

I just realised that there is another good reason for not having the primary gear fitted, not just because it inhibits free rotation. Would you want lapping compound anywhere near the Deva bushes, or their running surface on the crankshaft?

The primary gear is fitted you need to take the clutch and flywheel apart and use just the black center part to lap to the crank
