Are 998 and 1275 filter housings the same?
Are early and late ones interchangeable? (apart from the oil pipe size which I know is different)

However the gasket faces on the block/housing are much bigger on the A to the A+.

Thanks Graeme, the casting on a 1275 ex metro one I have is much more meaty than the one on my 998, do you know if they are interchangeable?Sizes (flow) are the same between engine sizes.

They are interchangeable (if they're both the same gasket face) but the longer one can give clearance problems depending on your car/build. If you've got room though they do make screwing the filter on/off a bit easier.

that's the one, I want to use a standard shorter type so by the sounds of it I will be ok. Thanks for the help.Is the metro one much longer with (about) 3" through bolts?
