Have a look, seems to tick all the boxes.

The GPS is a SIRFIII chipset so is very fast and accurate

The unit can be set up to send alerts when battery is low, when ignition is turned on, door opened, if vehicle moves outside of predefined area, if the vehicle travels above a max speed etc

You can also set the device into monitor mode so that when you call, it will let you listen to what is happening via the devices external microphone.

The device has connections to be able to wire up a car siren/ horn and set it off remotely via SMS.

Gets an average of 4.4/5 stars on Amazon

So how about a review for those of us still contemplating getting one ??  Bearing in mind the current Minivation offering, which is complete with SIM card, mounting instructions etc and looks to be much much smaller in size to this one, but is about twice the price :

Did you have to pay any import taxes ??

How easy was it to install ??

Without divulging where you fitted it, was it tricky to find somewhere to mount it ??

Was it easy to set up and use ??

Do you feel any safer leaving the vehicle knowing it's got this fitted ??

Phil.

very easy to install. Instructions are not very clear but there is a diagram. Depending on what features you want depends on how complex the install is. Ive used the alarm and imobiliser features which makes it a bit more complicated but if you just want tracking you just need a power feed and earth.

no import tax as far as i know but i didn't buy it.

no i found somewhere to mount it and the ariels without difficulty.

yes easy to setup and use. Again instructions not very clear but read them several times and you can work it out fairly easy.

definitly happier knowing ive got some security

The Minivation one is hugely overpriced in my opinion. The Amazon one above has more features and is much cheaper.

This looks pretty good to me, not too sure about it having the words "GPS TRACKER" printed on the front though!

I sanded it off of mine, although, the two antennas connected to it give it away a bit.

Mines hidden real well though..

I'm not sure that it is actually.  By the time you've added up all the stuff you need (sim card, charger, TK102 unit itself) off Amazon or what-knot you're within a tenner in price without the problems of potential import tax and shoddy instructions in pigeon-english and little or no support from the vendor.  For what it is I think it's ok.

If you have the ability to round up all the bits, need/want the extra functionality and can work your way though the instructions then the item listed by the OP looks good but I think Minivation has a viable product for the general populous.

Sim card is free from most places and this one just connects to a permanent supply.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what makes up for the extra cost of the Minivation one, if anyone could enlighten me, I'm sure many will appreciate it.

I suspect it has something to do with it being a product that is bought from a trusted source in the UK and comes with all the protections and advantages of that. Namely after sale support.

A running theme through the Amazon reviews appears to be a lack of support.
