Tomorrow my Mini finally leaves the bodyshop. Last week someone came in and fitted my new fibreglass bonnet and pins. He created some mounts for the pins and drilled the bonnet for the pins. I'm not best please as they are not symmetrical, also I really wanted them more towards the very front of the car.

I intend at somepoint in the future to have the bonnet repaired, when I have this done I wanted to see what options I have to move the pins and also what other options there are to secure bonnet (its hinged as normal)

This is it now, its not so bad for the time being:

Ouch!

I would be absolutely livid if someone walked away from that job, they are completely on the Pith!

Personally in the future I would keep it hinged and then have two pins at the front, if you want it completely removable (looks a bit swish and is nicer on the head (that ruddy bonnet catch)) you can fit two pins at the back and then two at the front.

There is also Aero catches if you wanted something a little subtler than standard pins, they aren't cheap however

the problem with using those type of pins any further forward is all to do with the angle that they have to be fitted at.

if you have them right at the front the pins will be pointing more or less directly forward too, and obviously the bonnet wont be able to lift on the hinges as it wont come off teh pins.

at the front you need something like hooks or straps to hold it down.

To remove and fill the holes I guess I will need to fibreglass them over?

I'm thinking about getting these now and putting them on the front next to the lights.

That's more like it - and move the pins to the rear corners.

What was the bloke thinking putting them there !!!!!

Well would be the front corners yes as the bonnet uses standard hinges at the top. But yes, I'll have to put up with the current pins for the time being.

Just ordered the bottom ones and will fit them when they arrive, will just have to drive around with holes in bonnet until I get them sorted.
