Hi All,

Well my Revs are 7 years old this year and the lacquer has lasted well but a couple are looking cloudy and I want to sort them for this summer.

What are peoples suggestions on the easiest and smartest way to remove the lacquer from the polished lip only?

A local wheel refurber wants £100 to machine the polished area and leave them bare alloy. That's fine by me as ill simply polish them more, but id rather save as much of the £100 as possible.

Advise please.

David

What tools do you have access to ?
I always use a mini da/ mop
1500 on a interfacepad on dish but not needed on a lip
2000
Then trizac with abit of water but i. Spend alot of time then use 3 m compounds

sounds like it is a time intensive process.

someone suggested red scotch brite then 3M compound and autosol?

Once the lacquer is off, I'd be using something far finer than autosol.

I really like meguirs polish

satin wheel should get the clear coat off easily enough, don't use solvol and as for stuff like meguiars you're paying for a name and getting sucked into the 'detailing' hype ;-)

phone these up...http://www.thepolishingshop.co.uk/...tell them what you want to do, give them credit card number and wait for box of goodies to turn up.
