Hello

I am just after a bit of advice.

My question: VMAXSCART kit or Minispeed kit, which one is the best, and best value for money?

I am planning on the following conversion:

1275 Metro Engine - Block Honed and skimmed and new piston rings, crank nitrided and reground

Head - 35.7 x 31mm

Gearbox - Standard with x-pin diff, center pick up, windage tray and 2.9 final drive

I want between 100 - 110 bhp, so my second question is will this build take a supercharger?

Cheers

Rich

I've got a Vmax kit, retro fuel injection which was upgrade from carb. Cant complain, product is great, support too. I live near Stuart and have been back for rolling road setups to re-map as the engine beds in. No experience of Minispeed, been to them a few times for other bits and they are spot on.

The engine is originally from an SPi, the previous owner ran it with twin carbs. I had the engine rebuilt to 1293cc with larger valves etc, Vmax also did this, ie built it with a supercharger in mind. Gearbox was also rebuilt, final drive was not changed, so whatever this is in a 1995 ish SPi engine, that remains.

I ran it first with carb, dizzy, then went to Megajolt, then when full Emerald ECU with dual injectors. Vmax sell the injection inlet / throttle body kit. Am using MED trigger wheel kit which plugs direct into what comes with the Emerald plugs/wires.

Supercharger is probably one of the earlier units without the teflon coating, I've not noticed any loss of performance over the 3000 miles its now at since rebuild. If anything, it pulls better, but this is probably due to the engine now being run in more. I opted for the water cooled inlet, and also thick ali rad with Kenlowe fan for traffic - standard 11 blade fan on the pulley. Talking of pulleys, the s/c has the larger pulley on but Vmax do a smaller one if you are brave!!

Its not let me down once, even in the heaviest rain I can remember. Only thing that I had to replace this week as the RC40 middle box pipe section, but this was probably only due to road hump damage, the round edges at the road side were flat...!

Hope it helps. I see you are in Fife, not sure if you will be on any of the Mini events this side of London, let me know if you are.
