The government makes us pay tax on our cars for some reason, for a 12 months of tax it £110 dont know how much that is in $. But its a rip off and you have to get one every year, and if you dont they'll fine you thousands and then you still have to pay it! If the car is really old something like 1970's then your exempt from tax!!

we don't have a so called "tax" we have License and Registration. How much that costs per year is determined by how much the DMV thinks you paid for your car.
The way we prove we paid is we have "tags" that go on our license plates. They are different colors every year and go in the upper right and upper left corners of our plates. Watch any movie that shows proper cars in America.... not Fast and the Furious! and you will see the colored stickers on the license plates of all the vehicles.

update it every year. And it can be expensive
if you have a $70,000 mercedes you can be lookin at nearly 700 bucks a year

Good thing you got a mini then!!!
It seems fairer that way, because my car is only small and cheap but it cost the same as a mercedes to tax! And a year goes way to quick for me, espically when I got an MOT coming up, and I doubt she will pass that! more ££££ and then re newing my insurance which is £750! It all comes at once!

the best thing is when dealing with cash on used cars there is no way for the DMV to know how much you paid for it. the DMV will probably think I paid 100 bucks for my mini when I get one
