My rocker cover is scratched up and looks awful, instead of buying a new one what Gloss paint should i use? (Red or Black) Spray paint would be ideal, but im unsure if you can get heat proof paint in a can haha.

Cheers :)

You don't need high temperature paint for a rocker cover, as long as you prepare it well. Hammerite gloss would be OK.

Hammerite hammered finish also looks good and gives a kind of crackle finish.

Brush painted mine with my green engine paint after wire wheeling and degreasing. Looks good :)

Degrease it thoroughly and key the surface by sand/wire wheeling it.

If you have access to a blaster, even better.

Once cleaned & degreased give it at least 3 good coats of primer first. When you decide which colour you are going to use, give it one good coat of colour over the primer. This will show up any imperfections.

Don't rush the process. Lightly sand with 800 grade wet & dry or red Scotch brite pad if necessary before applying the final coats of colour. Three should be fine if using an aerosol.

This paint is not a car paint is just a hard wearing paint out of a spray gun though

It's all about prep it took me about 2 hours to prep this getting in all the gaps with red scotch pad and de greaser
I'm sure the paint was a hammerite type watered down with a thinners

Also in awnser to primer you should use a acid etch primer but don't cover the rocker cover just lightly spray over it in other words don't paint the cover with primer you only need to lightly prime it
