Looks like a later cap. Will it fit/work?

I prob have a later one on the other Mini I will give it a go. Bit strange that no one is making the old style caps.

I didn't know it was an MOT requirement. On my last mini, one of the terminals was broken so I know it went through for a few years like that and wasn't flagged up. I wouldn't be relying on something like that to keep me safe in terms of brakes anyway, so easy for it to fail and not warn you, or for you to not notice the light or the bulb to fail etc.
I certainly make a point of eyeballing the reservoir anytime the bonnet is up (which is pretty regularly on a mini lets face it), and if the reservoir is clean you don't really need to take the cap off to see that the level is OK anyway. Also I would always investigate and fix the reason for any fluid loss. I would think that good maintenance, checking the level, and familiarity with your car and how the brakes feel is far more likely to prevent a disaster scenario than relying on a dubious warning circuit that may or may not work when required.
That said it's easy enough to just replace the cap so of course that should be done if it is found to be faulty.

Yes the newer cap will work fine, in fact they last longer.

Is there a terminal for this new style of cap? I have looked all over and cant find one, currently i just have some spade terminals which work fine, but was hoping to use the right terminal for the job. Did the mpi have this terminal maybe?
