Is there any reccommended oil change for the Eaton M45 charger? Mines been in for about 18 months, not used every day but when is used its used in anger.

Still pulls like a train so assume its all good but want to ensure I am not going to run into problems. Also, what oil should be used with it?

There isn't a recommended oil change interval, however about 90k miles is about right.

I've just changed the oil in the MINI Cooper S and it sounds much better after (it's on 72k miles)

I assume you are aware there are two oil reservoirs?

Info from manufacturer here http://www.eaton.com...s/FAQ/index.htm

They say no need to change oil but then quote the amount to fill in the body and rear....

They only say no need for oil change so that when yours is knackered, you'll buy a new one from them.

Seriously, I've stripped ones where the oil reservoirs are just dust from where the gears have chewed each other apart.

Thanks both! Where are the oil drain/fill points located? The s/c is on the car and ideally dont want to remove it to do this.

If i can remember one is on the nose end cover with the pulley and the other is for the water pump which isn't used. I will check my spare charger later if you like.

Could you? That would be great! I can see one on the pulley side, a hex bolt that looks like its been undone before by the look of it.

Cheers

Yes, one is by the pulley and one is by where the water pump would be. They are both hex bolts.

Found them, they both look rounded off a bit so guess they have already been looked at.

Not surprised, I should imagine they are also done up to every mechanic's favourite torque setting, 5000 ft/lbs
