They will fit but you might have clearance issues as they will be wider and taller

The 145/70x12 is the largest tyre, in overall diameter, used on the mini.... the 155/70x12 was actually standard on the metro, with the same size wheel, and is noticeably bigger, your issue could be clearance over the trailing arm maybe tight but should fit, just...

They certainly will fit, it's specified size for some Mini based kitcars, though wheel offsets could cause you more grief than usual.

I have used 155/70/12 on a 1275GT. It's not advised because - without wheel arch extensions they are illegal as "they show tread when viewed from above", they do not feel as sequre on the road as 144/70/12 tyres in my opinion (maybe this is because I used recommended tyre pressures and 155 tyres required a different value).  I cannot comment re 165/60/12 tyres as I have never used them as the width illegality (without arches) prevents me. (I'm not screwing into perfectly good front wings and prefer to keep the car standard outside of the engine bay.

Hi Alex,

I had to use that size tyre with 4.5 x 12 wheels when I did some rallies which required a specific make of tyre and that was the only 12" size available. They worked OK but on full lock of the steering the tyres hit the inner wings. I also had to re-shape the front of the front wings where the lip on the wings was hitting the tyres and re-fit the wheel arch extensions.

The tyres put the gearing up slightly as well, but I had a 3.44:1 diff ratio so it was not too bad.

The 155/70 x 12 are not ideal, but they do work OK.
