Hi everyone,

 

long time following this forum, just joined not too long ago. I was waiting until i've officially become a classic mini owner. Last weekend I just picked up a Morris Mini 1000 to fulfill and check off one of my to-do's in life. Not sure the exact blue color, but it looks like a smurf. So I named this project "The Smurf Rocket". The titled is registered as 1961, but the body, window, and everything resembles an early MK3 or late MK2. Maybe you guys with more experience can help identify this model and color :). I've been doing a lot of investigating and assessment this week to start a full restoration project to this little guy.

as for now, slowly restore this mini aesthetically and mechanically. Remove all the rust, clean up panels, and repaint the car in same color.  In the long run, i like to save up for a B18 transplant so it's fast and reliable. most importantly, oil leak free.

Some updates.. over the past couple of weekends, i've been cleaning up the car, waxing and polishing, replacing parts, restoring missing parts and coverings. This weekend, i added the hood stripes and plasti-dipped the wheels. I'd love to know what you guys think.
