"see Through" Paint Job?

I am planning to restore my mini later this year, and have recently been pricing bits up.
I rang a paint show who quote 2-3k for a shall respray. Being an apprentice I can't really afford this, plus I want my mini to 'stand out' more than a big standard Mayfair.
This got me thinking, would a "see through" paint job work? I mean paint the inside, outside? And has it been done before? I know it's a lot of work but if done right I think it might look good?
Thoughts welcome, and ideas too! Thanks

Not sure whether it has been done on a Mini, but plenty of other cars have had it done.
Would be different and quite cool on a Mini though..

I wonder whether it would be easier to print and wrap rather than paint ???
Wrapping may bring other issues though

Funnily enough I was showing a chap at work the exact car today. I would link a photo but I'm on my phone at the moment. Google X-ray mini vinyl and it will pop up

It's in the thoughts process at the moment, and I would have to plan how to do it.
I'm going to try and get a basic picture of it to confirm how it will look, I will post that up here!
Oh an I intend to paint it, what colour would I have to declare on V5? (:

I've also seen a Mini painted up with the famous old BMC advertising cross-section diagrams on the outside.
