I have no personal experience on a mini, but our works minibuses are wrapped (but not completely - large graphics on there) and the oldest is getting close to ten years now, the edges look a little grubby and the finish is duller than when new. Other than that they look ok. I would guess a lot of it comes down to how sound the paint underneath is.

Hmm that makes me more interested in wrapping :)
I have sprayed the mini myself last year, but some 'accidents' happened in the last year, making scratches etc... So wrapping would be my option to make the ca rlook 'new' again...

if you can afford to then I would suggest getting it done by a pro. I took our bus down to be done and it was like watching an artist at work. A 2m wide bit of plastic going on a 3d surface without a single crease or wrinkle. If I had done it there would have been a lot of Anglo Saxon quoted.

I was having a conversation about whether or not to do the decal on the roof of my mini or not today!

If I did it I'd probably pull half the paint off, then end up having to pay someone to redo it

not good on fresh paint. You would need to leave it a while to harden (not a fan of roof graphics myself).

Yeah, I asked for a quote on doing it, cheapest quote atm was 1200 euros.. :P
But I read that the new wraps are quite good, with air venting holes to avoid big bubbles :P

i wrapped a mini for my sons first birthday , his mum redid it and said men are useless

The girlfriend, mom and dad will be helping me when/if I do it :)

1 wheel missing and the door hanging off, plus lots of paint chips where it's crashed into skirting boards

Just wait for the car to rust (the vinyl will help any water that gets in there stay around for a while.  Its super efficient at this) and when you have more vinyl than metal, its time to get the welder out.  :)
