Just wait for the car to rust (the vinyl will help any water that gets in there stay around for a while.  Its super efficient at this) and when you have more vinyl than metal, its time to get the welder out.  :)

Mini wont ride in the rain and is stored in a dried garage ;)

I've had a go at smaller items, I started with simpler forms and them moved onto things like wheels, spoilers mirrors (like mk4/5 escort ones, not just the back caps). I seem to have learnt in my very small attempts that vinyl quality makes a big difference.

I first started with some pretty poor quality stuff and although achievable it was not the best. Since I have used Hexis and KPMF and they have returned some pretty good results.

I intend to wrap a little project that me and a friend have, I have found a pretty good supplier of the KPMF vinyl in the appropriate sizes and their prices are very competitive. Having spoken to them they have advised I allow for 50% extra for mistakes, knowing how I do things I will order double which should account to 20 meters in 1525mm widths.

Large, open, dust free space, heat guns, infrared thermometer and another set of hands was also advised along with vinyl application products, panel prep, squeegee looking things and what not which I am sure will come in useful.

Within the next 4 weeks I hope to have the vehicle wrapped, I would be more than happy to let you know how it goes, but a screwed up pile of vinyl in the corner of a workshop and a car with half the paint peeled off of it is extremely likely!

I think wheeler dealers did one, might be able to find it on youtube perhaps?

As they wrapped that one straight over the top of rust, I'd be surprised that it hasn't turned to bubble wrap by now.

It was a horrendous bodge, but gives an idea of what is possible and how to do it.

My Experience with this  today -  Do not do it yourself!. Straight panels like door and rear are ok, other than those panels, wrinkles will appear in the wrap, got fed up and pissed off, ripped the whole thing off and will give it a paint job rather than wrap.

looks easy on videos but I will leave it to the vinyl wrappers to it if I wanted to the future.
