Hi all,I am looking to put flared/bubble arches on my mini. Has anyone got any ideas on how to go about doing this as cheap as possible? I don't want fibreglass or plastic so it looks like I'm going down the metal arch route. Can anybody help me please?

As far as I know there aren't any bubble arch kits in metal. Unless your referring to just general arch extensions, in which case someone does make a set of aluminum arches. I can't remember who makes them though.

Honestly fiberglass is your friend, there is a wide selection of good looking arch extensions available in glass, and it's easy to works with.

Thank you for replying mate, where the existing spats were, the arch behind them has very bad corrosion so i thought if i have to cut it all out i may as well weld flared arches to it. I was thinking of getting old mk1 golf rear repair arches and fitting them as they had 13" wheels. What do you think? Plus all the fibreglass arches ive seen blended in seem to crack where the body filler is.

I think hron13 is talking about cosic ally archs which aren't very common, horsman conversion reproduce them now.

you could weld on the golf ones and would look pretty good and different, I don't think 13"'s would look right with them though.

What would you suggest Alex?i thought with the golf already being on 13s it would be a pretty simple thing?

I think it'd depend on the dish of the wheel and how low the car is, I would say 12"s but it's quite hard to imagine it

It depends how good at bodywork you are, because they run 13" wheels doesnt mean it will fit the contours of the mini, and I suspect a lot of filler would be required to make them look 'normal'

Personally there is nothing wrong with GRP, but I haven't blended mine in due to the issue of cracking, provided they have some rubber trim where it meets the body then they wont look unfinished

I think it would be a lot less hassle to use off the shelf items

That could work, I would say maybe just repair the rust then run standard off the shelf mini bits.
