Trying (and failing) to work out MPG and fuel costs for road trip to monaco. About 800 miles each way, my mini is a 1.3.

I am estimating 100 for tolls each way. Can anyone help with fuel cost (which I think is about £1 a litre in French France)

No idea what MPG I get :/

If you manage 30mpg and at £1/L it would be around £120 each way. I'd imagine it would be around that ball park figure, but without knowing the exact fuel costs and the mpg your car achieves I couldn't be certain. I'd budget a little more just in case.

I think petrol in France is more than £1 a litre, and more than diesel.

I've also found one of the cheapest places to fill up is cite de Europe as you come out the tunnel

I think it's just over £1, at 1.4 Euros.

Working on Thomas cooks 1.18 Euros to the pound that makes petrol about £1.19 a litre (i think)

So add about 20% to your fuel costs.

Your mini will probably use massive amounts less fuel at 65mph compared to 75mph

I was over in Europe this weekend just gone and petrol is about EUR 1.40-1.60 at the moment. Depends on the country. Its not cheap in France at the moment.

Long journeys you'll probably use less than 30mpg won't you? my 998 gets almost 60, will a 1275 make that much of a differencE?

Petrol in France is currently about 1.45 euro per litre for 95ron and about 1.51 per litre for 98ron. These prices are based on supermarkets in our local area which is known as being fairly cheap. On autoroute service areas you will need to add another 15 to 20 cents per litre at least.

There is a cheaper fuel labelled as E10 which I would never use on my Mini. It is not recommended for vehicles produced before 2000.

1.45euor works out at about £1.22 at today's rate.

Remember, some french automatic pumps will not take UK credit cards.

May be worth investing in a vacuum gauge to help keep your MPG in good figures.

You ought to be able to manage at least 40mpg on a steady run, even up to 60 is possible. Whatever the engine, it's the same Mini sized hole to punch in the air.

The problem is controlling your right foot!.

As it's oh so nice once you get on the open roads & if you venture up into the mountains it just gets better. (obviously sticking to the speed limits) :)

Allow more than you think.
