Hi everyone,

Bit of a newbie, only got my first ever Mini yesterday for my first car. It's a 1994 Rover Mini Cooper 1.3i.

The car came with no radio/stereo system installed but it had a hole in the dash for a head unit and the speaker board in the back for 2 13cm speakers. I have got some speakers and a head unit (which is too long :P but that's not my problem).

The problem I have is the connector for the radio/head unit. The head unit I am installing is a Kenwood KDC-3031a and it uses a black block connector (ISO I think?) and my Mini has a grey, rectangular connector (think it's a DIN connector, not sure). I have looked for an adapter but struggle to find one.

Are there any adapters available for it? If not, I'm happy to manually wire up an ISO to connect it, but I can't seem to find a wiring diagram either.

Any help on this subject is greatly appreciated as I would like to get the radio installed asap :)

Thanks in advance,

Cam.

That's not the same connector, I'll upload a picture of the connector for you :)

Sorry for the bad pictures, they were taken in the dark with my phone!

Thanks,

Cam.

Hi mate,

Thanks for the help, that's cool. Like I said, I don't mind wiring up my own connector, and if a wiring diagram was available that would be sweet!

Cheers,

Cam.

The connector in your car isn't standard, if you pull it out more you might find it's an adaptor itself.

Ooh, i'll have to have a look tomorrow. Looks like it goes quite far in but i'll have to see it in the light.

Thanks,

Cam.

Just like to say, thanks for all your help. Got the dash off today and found the existing speaker wires, a ground wire and fused 12v supplies (perm. And switched) so I got it all connected now and its working great!

Thanks for your help,
Cam.
