Sorry If i sound like i know nothing about engines but i don't.

The car i'm looking at buying is a 1992 (Registered 19-11-1992) 1275 Mini Mayfair.

I was told by the seller it had a MPI engine in but after reading topics on this forum and looking at pictures it looks like a SPI engine, But it has a choke (pull push handle on the Left of the instrument panel with a blue arrow and red arrow)

Now like i said at the start i know nothing about engines and what has lead me to be confused is i have read a couple of topic on TMF saying that a SPI Wouldn't have a choke?.

If this is the case what engine would it have in there?

I'm totally confuzzled

Cheers

The blue and red arrowed knob is for the hot and cold heaters

1992 Mayfairs were still carb cars so they will have a choke. You will have 2 push/pull knobs, one each side of the switch panel. Left hand side is choke, right is heater. Choke hole will be blanked off if it is an injection.

Of it has been converted from carb to injection then that may ring some alarm bells depending how and why it was converted.

Best of luck.

Will be a carb engine unless it's had a transplant.

Should look the same as my 1993 Mayfair. See photo below where the carb is clearly visible.

I'd be more than a little worried if the seller of a car didn't know the difference between a carb'd engine and a fuel injected engine!
