the project RSP requires 2 new boots. 175/50R13s.

I don't fancy running "Maxxis" or "Nankang" so my only option looks to be yokohamas. anyone know of any other makes in this size? also; where can I get the best price? looks like I can get fitted for about £85 each

Yoko is the way to go.  Maxxis and Nankangs are not for me........

Got maxxis Ma-z1s and i prefer the tread pattern to the yoko 175/50s. They are also fairly cheaper

have a look on camskill.co.uk, they always have the best trye prices in my opinion, and a huge range

No brand/ cheapy brand tyres are crap and this is why they are cheaper. I use Dunlop sp sports. They are grippy but also offer good mileage before wearing out!

A shame they don't make the good old 175 50 x 13 PIRELLI P7F tyres anymore :(

i had this debate for months when i was aware my yokos were on their way out.

basically i couldnt afford another set of 4 yokos to go on my polished wheels, and a local garage was doing a good offer on maxxis tyres.

in my opinion, i cant tell the difference at all, in the wet, in the dry, when driven hard. if i wasnt told i would think i never changed the wheels and tyres! i would also add, maxxis arnt a "cheap/no name" brand either, they are very good tyres.

the only thing i havnt tried yet is driving it in snow, but it was rubbish with the yokos on in the snow, i would think it still will be.

I have nankangs on the rear and they are fine. I have a mate in the tyre trade and he can't believe that the mini crowd like
yokos so much. He says they are lethal in the wet and in the trade they call them 'ditch finders'

If you've got a bit of room under the arches, you could try Pirellis 165/55/13. Overall diameter would be about 7mm larger than the yokos. I've just changed my front pair after about 15-16k miles and they were £81 each through blackcircles, including fitting, balancing and all the bits

I found Nankangs suprisingly good on the other halfs cinquecento, stuck  really whell even when chucking it around like a hooligan, but different car, different size tyre so not a direct comparison.

Maxxis I have heard are not bad , they actually do pretty good bike tyres, so arnt just some no brand crap.

Continentals are pretty good too, I had a set on my turbo's mini and there wasnt much to choose between them and the Yokos (A539's) but they lasted much better. infact they probably had the edge in the wet.
