Hello, I have a 1989 mini Mayfair engine with the breather coming out the back of the block however the metro t3 turbo does not fit with this Breather in the way is there any chance I can more it to somewhere different on the engine? Also can I fit a 1275 head on the 998 with no mods ? Thanks :-)

Use a T2 (renault 5) instead of the T3, it will fit dead easy

Did you work out the correct CR to run forced induction? Its the case where a 12g940 head will need a bit of chamber reshaping..

Fitting a 940 to a 998 is dead easy aswell, if you're able to pocket the block or recess the exhaust valves. This has been covered few times on the forum, just do a quick search. As a rule of thumb, a standard lift cam will allow the fitment of an old leaded 940, most unleaded will require the valves to be recessed about 40 thou. You'll need to pocket the block if you got an high lift cam instead.

So is there no way of using the T3 turbo ? And is it worth puting the 1275 head on or just keep the 998 head? And I have not worked out the CR ratios yet but I was thinking of getting a 9cc decomprestion plate witch should bring it down enough I hope

Hmmm the t3 will take ages to boost on a 998, boost will start coming on at like 3500-4000 rpm if your lucky :L

And with the decompression plate a lot of people see it as a bad thing, but give it ago of you want, a lot of people have run on with no problems, but you do need to take in the cc for the two extra gaskets you need to fit in too!

And do expect major power from the standard internals too

Why would it take ages to boost on a 998? Would it just be better to put it on the 1310 I have ? However it needs £700 worth of work on it

Because it's a small engine and a big turbo :L

Just buy at t2 or a g15

I would seriously consider working out your CR correctly before just bolting on bits and hoping, there are plenty of guides out there. Nothing strictly wrong with a decomp plate however if you're fitting a different head it may be beneficial to try and lower the cr a little with that before resulting in using a decomp. And the larger the turbo the bigger the gain in boost - however it takes longer to spool thus giving a long boost threshold (often called lag) smaller turbos will spool up faster but with less overall boost :)
