Hey!

 

Couple of questions regarding having a rear subframe fitted.

 

1) is there anything else i should replace or purchase ready for when this is fitted (any parts that wear easy etc)

 

2) how long should it take a garage to do this and how much should i budget for them to change it? (i have the subframe, just fitting).

It's worth looking at your radius arm pins, brake quadrants etc. The radius arms will have to come off anyway so a good look over these is well worth it.

Brake flexi hoses as well.

And the rubber mounts and the mounting bolts as a bare minimum

Any ideas as to how much a garage would charge me for the honour of fitting it? :) haha

The biggest issue here is the heelboard subframe mounting bolts. If any of these are knackered, shear off or start to spin the captive nuts then it starts to get expensive or if they find rust on the heelboard.

Budget for the best part of a days work if things need to be replaced. Don't forget the fuel tank needs to come out to get access to the subframe bolts and shock absorber top mount. Price will vary from garage to garage.

Steel plate to repair the heel board which 9 times out of 10, is rotten.

I had quotes ranging from £700 - £1000 to have mine replaced. I didn't want to pay that so did it myself, having never done it before. However, I was very lucky not to have any problems with rust in the heelboard or sheared mounting bolts.

:0 A series have quoted me a good price of between £160/240 (this is just to fit it - i am providing the parts).

I know......that was me supplying a Heritage subframe and a fitting kit too......scandalous!

I agree with Sonik on the bolts. If you're fortunate enough to get all 4 heel board mounting bolts out without them breaking then would you really want to put them back in? They could be 20 years old. I'd always replace the bolts.
