Right,I've asked this question before but since then I've forgot what I was suggested but basically I'm finally going to rustproof my arches and underneath my mini but not sure what to use,On a mini Facebook page I was told to use Stonechip,POR15 and Dymax S50 does anyone have any better suggestions on what to use or would using all this be fine? Also I was wondering if there is such thing as a drill attachment I could use to sand down surface rust in the arches? Thanks :)

Dynax S50 is brilliant. The guy who runs the company, Peter Hamber used to work in the North Sea oil industry I understand, so knows a thing or two about protecting metal! I have used it on all my cars and have had no noticeable deterioration in over five years. I also did some tests on all the main types at work and S50 was the best, Dinitrol was next best but showed some deterioration over winter (tests done on 100mm square samples fully exposed to the weather).

try these to get the surface rust off. I use them for most jobs and they are much better than twisted wire wheels because they do not eat away at the metal. Also they last ages and flex very well allowing you to get in most places.

I don't have any advice on which underseal to use but i have one little nugget - When applying, make sure you cover every single nook and cranny otherwise the rust will hit twice as hard in the unprotected areas making it pointless in protecting it at all.

Good luck.

tell me about it. These were recommended to me by another forum member. I was a bit sceptical about them before they arrived and wondered if they would actually do anything but they are very good and remove surface rust with ease. Just don't expect them to remove heavy pitting and well set rust because you will be disappointed!!

I use them alot to clean up components as they are gentle enough to not scratch up even alloy. Bargain too!

After sending a quick email to Bilt Hamber the other day asking how they thought the best method and products to use they replied with this, Hope it helps ;-)

"It will depend on how clean the underside is of existing coatings, the best system would be bare steel, electrox, primer, epoxy mastic , then stone chip protection.  Dynax S50 in cavities."

I've posted this a while ago so I hope the following helps you.

Project 45 was done with Dynax S50 for the sills, inside doors, top of A pillars etc.  I used Dynax UB for the underside and the arches.

I used a Shultz gun loaded with the Dynax UB for underneath of the mini, it makes the job a heck of a-lot quicker and neater.  I would highly recommend doing this.

Also you can get the cans with the nice big long injection lance for the sills, doors top of A pillars etc.

In other words use the Dynax UB for underneath the vehicle and the arches, use the Dynax S50 with the injection lance for the sills, inside doors, top of A pillars etc.

And as per...

http://www.bilthamber.com/cavity-waxes

Cavity waxes & treatments (Dynax S50 (Dark Brown))& underbody waxes & treatments (Dynax UB (Black)) are designed to be applied over sound painted metal.

The Dynax UC is very thin after application so I'd only recommend using it in areas where appearance is very important to you.

If you properly get stuck on any of their products do give them a ring. The guy's who run this operation are very helpful and knowledgeable.
