HI there, I found this forum and joined today because i'm looking for some advice/general chat about the mini that I'm seriously considering buying.

When i was 10 (1993) my dream car came out, Mini cooper 1.3i in racing green. Yesterday i got offered a mint condition one for sale from an old collegue.

I have no need for a car whatsoever, but this is the car i've wanted all my life and i've been saving my pennies for a rainy day. Its over priced, of that i'm sure.. but then this is in Denmark a country famous for its enourmous taxes on everything especially cars.

so.. I have a few questions, general ones about owning/keeping a mini. How its value changes and such. If anyone wants to say hello and is up for a natter, please do say hello. At the moment i'm 50/50 on weather to buy. Its a lot of money.

I look forward to chatting...

Not sure what the market is like in Denmark, but in the UK it seems that a Classic Mini will hold its value. If you bought that car, and kept it in good condition, I am confident you could sell it for at least the same amount in 3 years time.

Generally all a Mini will cost you is maintenance/repair.

Hello and welcome,

Obviously not aware of the cost of vehicle both in terms of buying, running and maintaining them in Denmark but I can say that Minis are great little cars and give you a lot of fun and joy.

This forum is packed out with lots of genuine, helpful people with a vast range of knowledge. If you have any pictures of the car you are looking at with details of it there will be advice from here as to what to look for and possible costs to put right.

By the way if you sign up to be a TMF+ member of the forum (annual fee of £5GBP) you will be able to attract discounts from a host of suppliers i.e. 7.5% from Minispares.

Post pictures and ask questions and someone will be able to answer them or give an opinion.

Thanks guys,

The value thing is the one i'm concerned about. If the depreciation isnt too crazy, and I could sell on in a few years without losing a huuuuge amount, then I'd rather have the money sitting on my drive in the form of a Mini than in a bank account for some fatcat to play around with.

it has had a few add-ons, wider arches for one and fatter wheels and a few touches that I'm told has pushed the value up and of this i'm not so sure.. I beleived completely original would be more valuable.. any thoughts?

I'm going to have a proper poke around in it tomorow, and a drive. Is there some major things I should be looking/listening out for? I know the basics of checking a car over, but wondering if theres anything specific to this model i should pay extra attention to?

thanks for any advice forthcoming :)

here's the only pic I have of it, but I have seen it in the flesh many times:
