Hi my hornet was running really poorly all of a sudden. I have resulted in taken the head of. And I reckon the head gasket has failed or maybe the head. It's really sooty on the valves and capped in black rubbish. The spark plugs are really sooty also. There was a bit of water in the oil too. I do have some pics I could email or pm. Any ideas I don't want to just replace the head gasket as I'm worried the head is in a poor state. Maybe it's cracked or warped.

Any ideas thanks jack

It is very unusual for a head to crack or warp as it's a cast iron head.

With big-valve, i.e. oversize valve, head there can be cracking between valve seats.
