Hey everyone,

I have a mini city e 1987 ( see below :D ), shes gorgeous, and in the ongoing care of the every day mini lover, spend far too much on her etc etc :) yesterday i ticked off a huge long list of things to be done, including changing the bootlight cover and the boot handle, changing the clocks back to the originals, fixing the speedo cable, removing a couple of surface rust spots from under the door etc, general good maintenance day on my day off. I also fixed the exhaust finally and stopped it blowing :D this however bought on the desire to make it quieter. As far as classic minis go, mine is particularly quiet anyway, idles lovely ( will eventually get her tuned properly, but until then she runs very sweet anyway) and it seems that this era of minis has basic sound proofing with the deadening spray down pretty well to be honest, so its never been a huge issue with the sound proofing, but now that im reaching the end of the obvious fixes for the mini, its now just refining, (i have to switch all the chrome over (hence switching the boot light cover) as its all fake stainless steel tin stuff and bends easily and doesn't look good, put the original radio back in under the dash and in the endddddddd get it sandblasted and resprayed) but the part of refining next on my list is to make her purr like a verrrry quiet kitten. Anyway, i know which sound proofing im using, got a good recommendation from my mate that owns classic BMW's (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111177735877 if you're interested) (i sat in it before and after and the difference was very noticeable and his car was much louder than mine) ( he got the 80mm and i he commented that if I wanted it really quiet to get the 110mm. Anyway the question is how much. would 8 sqft be enough? Apparently the kit is really good and sticks very well, responding very well to pressure and comes with a pressure roller and gap tape. Which sounds fantastic :)

SO How many square feet would i need roughly to cover the floor, under the rear seats, under the plate between the boot and the car, the back of the rear seats ( between the boot and the seat), the firewall ( behind the dash and steering wheel) the inner of the wheel arches, the underside of the bonnet andddd possibly the inside of the doors. Additionally to this question, how much would you expect 8 sqfoot to cover?

Thanks Guys :)

Also please feel free to add what material you used, what you're doing to your minis at the moment, what you've got, pictures etc, im nosy and love a good drool over a mini :)

Hugs

Em and Little Blue :) ( officially names Azulita)

not the answer to the question (personally I would do without sound proofing but that's my opinion) but it might be better to upload your pictures to photobucket to save TMF memory space and are you going to Lincoln mini day if its driveable?

Hey, I was considering going to Lincoln mini day, i had a look cus i havent been to a mini show in a while, last one was bingley hall, which seems like forever ago! But i couldnt find much information on it, will there be an auto jumble/ stands? Its not too far from me so would like to go really. It wasnt really in my original plans for her to add sound proofing, im not about the comfort of the rise ( or i wouldnt have a mini!) but hearing the difference in sound after that exhaust was fixed got me all inspired :P just another thing to add while keeping her as original as possible :P

not sure about trader stands as this would be my first one but there are shops and charity stands so i dont see why there wont be any mini parts for sale :P
