Where does the return spring hook on to? The slave cylinder??

There should be a spring anchor fitted under the slave bleed nipple. It's just like an elongated washer with a second, tiny hole for the spring. They are only a couple of quid if it's missing, but also very easy to replicate from something else. I think there's a key ring holding mine. Anything that will extend the spring end within about 1/4" of the bleed nipple and hold it in place will do. Just hook whatever it is over the nipple.

They can be quite tough to do, cord or wire could help yes. In the past I've done it with a cord right across the back of the engine to pull on!

Right so I've got my anchor tab. It won't go on tight with the bleed nipple as it won't screw all the way in. Will this be ok do you think?

Also you wouldn't want the bleed screw to have any chance of tightening on it before sealing in the cylinder
