I've had my 'worked' 12G940 head tucked away for years waiting for the chance for it to grace a decent engine.....so as always when you come to check things over (had this head for 10 years!!!) something always raises its head and says "Hang on just a minute!!!"

In this case the exhaust valve guides are goosed, so replacing both guides and valves in one hit to save any future issues. I've already lapped and checked the inlets, and the guide pressing and seat cutting is being done by a local engineers.

So....since i was putting in a BIG (for me anyway) minispares order i was going to order some valve guides.

Wanted the cast Iron ones as the benefits of the 'Bronze' ones don't seems worth it.

Minispares are out of stock - does anyone know if the Minisport ones are the same???

They are listed as steel, which is wrong, and have a VAG number stamped on them - they the same as a VW valve guide?

Or if anyone has got 4 cast iron minispares ones hanging around doing nothing and can get them posted today then let me know.

If you are stuck for ours, our North branch have some, give them a ring on 01423 881800. Failing that we will have them in stock again Thursday

I had some valve guides put in a few years ago with a VAG number on the sides (supplied by the machine shop) and they were utter crap.
Turned out that they were too short and the stem seals popped off as the groove was wrong.  We suspect that there had been a misprint in their parts book and they just ordered in what the book of words said.

I'm sure Mini Sport wouldn't make that mistake, and parts are often interchangable.
