any hints or tip on how to get them in far enough an hold them there while i get the nut on?
i know someone must have an easy way to do them..

Some will disagree with this but I lubed them with a little grease and squeezed them in with a vise and some blocks of wood. It still wasn't easy installing them in the car but a little lube made them slide in just enough to get the first couple of threads on.

Yes, lots of us are going to disagree with the advice about using grease, because it seriously rots rubber, and as Dan says, the bush must never be allowed to rotate. But you can use liquid soap, the stuff you might use on your hands or face. Preferably not washing-up liquid, which was widely used and recommended in various magazines, until someone pointed out that it contains lots of salt, which may of course explain why the bolts are often difficult to remove, due to rust.

Well done! It will be easier next time, and being a Mini, there will be a next time, because Mini ownership is a harmless form of addiction, and things do wear out eventually....

thanks..and theres already been a next time forgot to check them properly and got them the wrong way round and then managed to strip the thread on one of the bolts ![]()
