Any tips before i start removing things?

The problem im having is halfway going up, the glass tilts, very slightly, to the rear and kinda gets stuck, i pull it up and forward, wind it up a bit then just wind it up normally.

Going down = no problems

Going up (anywhere above/below midway point) = a little stiff, but manageable

Going up (midway point) = have to pull glass up.

The winder mechanism is bolted on door securely
This started a few weeks ago.
1yr old rubber
Rails were checked last year, no corrosion.

Did some googling but most talked about corrosion. But i don't think mines corrosion. Although i havent opened it up yet.

It could well be corrosion if it was checked last year. Its surprising how quickly it takes hold, especially with bad weather and all of the water that passes through the door.

Other than that my only other guess would be that the gears need greasing up?

Either way,you won't know for sure without removing the mechanism.

Hope its something easy :-)

Ben

Or it could be the rails on the bottom of the glass. The channel might have bent slightly allowing movement on the arms. That would explain the glass dropping back. If it is that, then it must be sorted soon or it will get worse and will probably end up with the arm popping off of the channel.

There is a metal piece on the bottom of the glass holding the glass. Mine was corroded away, resulting in what you describe.

Or it could be the window rubbers are dry. I had this problem on my mates car only a few weeks ago. I got the window down a little bit and sprayed all the channels with silicone spray, worked a treat. Might be worth trying first before taking the door apart?

not if the rear of the window  is dropping first , that's got to be the bit that's holding the glass in
