Errm, now don't jump down my throat here but that sounds like a Maestro lump designed for a conventional transmission. They aren't the same block as transverse, drop gear A series engines and can't be converted to fit the Mini gearbox to my knowledge. The problem is the oil pickup, the block is milled to take a threaded insert where the conventional sump oil pickup pipe is fitted which means there is nothing for the Minis O ring to seal against. I may be wrong but I believe that is a real problem. Also obviously the crank will be wrong but that could be swapped.

Not all A series engines are the same.

no ur quite right about the oil feed however i have been advised by engineers in plymouth that a central oil pick up would do the job nicely a series engines are a series engines it can be fitted onto a mini gear box like u allso say by swapin the crank its all there just needs peiceing to gether , thanks again for your input.
