20140421_163741_zpsej5genrt.jpgI noticed my steering wheel was clicking as i was turning it. There was a pin sticking out and catching on the indictor/wiper plastic sleeve that goes around the column. I couldn't tap it back in but managed to pull it out

How important is it? What does it do?

Thanks

It's the self cancel for the indicators. It could be trimmed a little. It is only a roll pin so easy to get a replacement even if you damage it (it will be hardened so will be hard to cut, best to grind it).

Looking at the picture it looks as though it is too far out and is riding around the outside of the plastic boss, hence the clicking as you say. Should it not be a bit further in so that it sits between the gap in the indicator ring, possibly in the hole next to the existing pin which looks to be a bit further in?

Great thanks, so long as my steering wheel isn't going to fall off. Haha. Im going to grind it and pop it back in. Thanks
