I know i shouldnt be steering while stopped, but unavoidable at times. I always had creaking steering when turning when stopped, but none when moving.

Using 10tkm minispares rack + tie rod and bushings. All bought new.

Rack bolts are tight.

No knocking/creaking when moving 10km/h+

It didnt bother me at the time, but i just installed power steering and its a lot more noticeable since i can turn the wheel faster.

Common or problem?


Sidenote: everyone on 7inch -7offset wheels and daily drive should get power steering. One handed parking + you can turn it off anytime. Also, if it does fail while moving itl just drive like a regular mini.

Possibly the rubber mounts on the shock absorbers, as all the weight of the car is acting on when stationary, try lubricating the mounts with silicone spray (have heard of people using washing up liquid) the only other thing, which thinking about it is more likely, is the top and bottom steering column bushes.

Not coming from column. Does the same thing with a different column using bearings instead of the stock plasTic bushings

Rubber mounted subframe? could be the rear lower mounts

Diy'd mine. There's an ebay one ready to bolt-on, albeit on the expensive side.

Corsa c column with mini splines welded on either end. Then bolted on some flat bar brackets to test. Brackets are still on prototype stage, there's still some flex.

Go for it. Makes driving the mini way way more comfortable. No more workout parkings. This is on -7offset wheels, which i believe makes the steering stiffer compared to the normal offset.
