I am new to this forum and this is my 1st post so please be gentle with me.
I have a 1989 998 Mini E bought here in France about a year ago.
My plan is to do a mechanical refurb on the Engine Gearbox and get her back in the road.
I am mechanically competent so want to do the engine rebuild myself. Not so sure at the moment about the gearbox.
I am in the process of removing the powertrain from the car and my plan is to strip it and see what sort of state it is in. It has done 55k km and was running a bit ropey when I drove it home.
Can anyone recommend a good place to get a bit of machining work done on the engine.
I am thinking at minimum a bore hone, valve guides and crank grind.
if it is worse than expected then a rebore as well.
I travel to the UK on Eurotunnel quite a bit so somewhere from Dover to Milton keynes would be perfect but am happy to devieate.
The ideal solution would be somewhere that I could drop off the unit and pick it up at a later date alomg with all of the necessary parts for me to rebuild the engine.
Any comment on what I could expect to have to do to the gearbox would be welcome
