Also what the standard oil pressure switch colour of wire I'm sure is black and white

It's white with a brown stripe.

White with a black stripe is for the tach.

You may fall foul of MOT with a cooler mounted in  front of the grill now I'd imagine because of the projections unless you cover the edges?

Has no-one tried modifying the front panel under the bumper and fitting an oil cooler there, like a Cobra? Would look much neater - have to move the number plate of course.

I was guna say there is a fair few things in that engine bay that will do more damage than and oil cooler.

It won't, sharp edges or projections have to be from damage or corrosion, user modification isn't an MOT failure in this case.

Yes it is a failure!!

20 odd years in the motor trade, ten of them running an MOT station tells me it isn't...

Taken from the inspection manual   http://www.motinfo.g...m4i00000001.htm

Information

The inspection of body condition applies to all vehicles and includes body components such as bumpers, spoilers and mirror housings.

Method of Inspection

Examine the body work for excessive corrosion or damage resulting in sharp edges which are likely to cause injury

Reason for Rejection

A sharp edge or projection, caused by corrosion or damage, which renders the vehicle dangerous to other road users, including pedestrians.

Well if there is a modification (oil cooler) which has a sharp edge then yes it is a failure as is a damaged bumper
