Hi I'm trying to install my exhaust second time round as I did not have all the correct hangers before hand. This time I realised the Y-PIECE is very close to the fuel line and even touches it in a certain place.

I don't know if I have installed it incorrectly, but I'm sure this can't be normal for it to be touching the fuel line. I have attached a few pictures to make it easier to understand what I am talking a about. Any help on wether it is a common problem or anything be appreciated. Thank you.

That looks like the battery cable to me ? . If so that is common . When it gets hot it melts the plastic cover off then it's a dead short so could catch fire if you are unlucky. So you need to rerun the cable away from the hot exhaust.

As I'm sure you already know - don't use it like that - a battery cable touching exhaust will short circuit quickly

it needs re-routing away from the exhaust

I would also check (if you have a manual fuel pump) , how close the pipe is to the exhaust in that area

best of luck

How stupid of me to not even think electrical! I seen it was black rubber so just assumed fuel line lol, didn't even look at routing. I will undo the clips and try and cable tie it out of the way as said by alex-95, as that's all I can do at the moment ??? without drilling a few new holes in the subframe for some new p-clips.

I will check the area of the fuel pump, as that is a good point well mentioned thank you sledgehammer. Cheers people.

Just one quick question to add - the y piece is a bastard to line up and the single pipe furthest away from you looking at my pictures, does not want to push on as far as the opposite side, if you look closely you can see the difference in gap in the split. just wondered if this is common also ? Thanks.

My maniflow was the opposite and the two pipes for the y piece were too close together, make sure u wire brush and sand a little so all the pipes for on easily, and it's a car of brute force and ignorance to try and pull then together and slide the y piece on

As long am I'm not the only one sweating away trying to line them up then eh! Makes me feel better lol. And after all these "I've melted my battery cable" comments I think ill just cable tie it out the way somewhere. Cheers

No mate believe me, best thing is to have it off the car and make sure they go in easily, so the weird angles u are under the car they go in....just cable tie it out the way.... Just checked mine today and it's nowhere near that battery cable, weird how urs is, anyway quick fix and ur away, paste and tighten once, saves lots of heart ache and hassle treating with blows, if u don't think its seated properly....it probably isn't :) best of luck!
