They are pretty ugly to be honest, big plastic sheet hard to get on and off, are there any alternatives to them?

Cheers :)

Spark plugs should be ok, Just give them a liberal dose of WD40 or something like that.

I don't know if you would have any benefit by doing that as surely the water would get up underneath. Plus you would need to fabricate some way of attaching it at the bottom that was easier and quicker to remove than the whole shield otherwise you may as well just carry on with the full shield.

I like the idea of fitting something behind the grille.

I am pretty sure that some Mini's had a plastic moulded shield that fitted behind the grille in front of the dizzy?

I mean using the bit that covers the dizzy and attaches at the bottom.

Every time I want to remove it i pretty much have have to remove the grille, i can't slide it down the front easily

Yeah, that's what i was talking about. You want to cut of the narrow bottom bit so you are just left with the top wide part to cover the head. What i was saying is that with out the narrow bottom but to fix at the bottom, you will only have the top bit which would let water up under it and would need some kind of fixing to hold it down along the bottom.

I made my own weather shield out of some plastic sheet and just zip tie it to the brackets on the rocker cover bolts.  No fixing at the bottom.

All I have to do to get it off is snip the two zip ties and pull it out.

If I just want to check oil or something, I can just pull it up and hold it out the way.
