hi all

i am thinking about buying a M45 supercharger for my mini 998. i have got a stage 1 kit on it already and higher compression head.

i have a few questions.

would it work well in a 998 mini?

will i have to do any major alterations?

will i have to buy anything else to fit it?

cheers

henry

You'll have to lower the compression ratio before you can use forced induction. I've not done it myself, but there is fairly major work to be done to make it work.

There are kits available that make it easier.

as above you'll need to drop the compression, you'll need to hget it down around 8:1 for a charger, which may be a problem on your existing head as its been skimmed, and getting the compression down on small bores can be an issue anyway.

best solution for a head is to get a 12G295 cooper head, they have big chambers and flow well.

apart from that, the M45 is a bit big for the 998, you'll find its in an ineficient part of its flow map so wont be ideal, it will be puting quite a lot of heat into the charge for the amount of boost it will be generating. it will work though, and you should see 80hp wothout too much trouble
