Can anyone advise me on what may be wrong with this mini? Iv changed points, changed plugs, iv put lights on the plug and they all light up when running. It idles fine but splutters and struggles when driven, I think it may be vacuum advance or head gasket, has anyone else had this problem?

Maybe a fuelling issue? Has it got dashpot oil?

I'm sure its fine for fuel, it has oil in dashpot and I have tried setting mixture too with no success

Change the oil for piece of mind, mine sputtered and wouldn't pull below 4000 because the oil was too thin. Is the needle correct? Is the ignition timing correct?

You can check the vacuum advance with a timing light: suck on the end of the hose, if the timing is unaffected you have your problem

The oil in it is engine oil not sure if that would matter? The needle is aau which I believe is either 998 or stage 1 if I remember right? I believe the timing is correct I will check it though just to be sure

Engine oil should be fine :) Did you do anything just before it started playing up?

It has stood for about 4 years but it has been started like every 2 months, just didn't have the time to work on it

Checked the advance and there is no resistance, there is a vacuum at the carb though so I know that is fine

No resistance,as in you suck and have to keep sucking? The diaphragm therefore can't hold a vacuum and is broken meaning you have no vac advance. I don't know if this would cause the problem you mentioned. I drove round with no vac adv while waiting for a new pipe and it was only a bit sluggish under partial load :/
