Hi all
My dad has lost his only set of keys for his mini. (1998 jap spec sportspack).
He has pulled his shroud off and is about ready to pull the ignition barrel off and take to the local locksmith for a new key.
I know with the door locks there is a code of the barrel telling which FS numbered key is required.
So On the barrel if the ignition he had the information:
VALEO UK
05 0096
WK10 YR93
From this I figure the company who made it was VALEO UK and was manufactured in the 10th wk of 1993.
I assume the key code is 05 0096
Is there anywhere I can buy a key matching this code??

Ignition Key Code For Replacement? 98 Model.

It might be worth contacting these people to see if they can provide any advice?

Emailed the above suggested place and they cannot help me. They need a key to copy.
I didn't want to have to change the whole barrel..... It will just have to be pulled off and taken down to a locksmith.
Just looking for the easiest option..
(Like the old ignition keys and door/boot lock kets, all have an FS code stamped on them and if you lose your key, you can just go and buy the appropriate numbered key, ie dad also lost his door lock keys, but that is not a major drama as Im sure his key was an FS923, summerford or ebay would have these)
Just would have thought someone would have all these profiles on file and could cut them at will.....

Ok well if no-one can cut a key from a code.
How do I remove the barrel when there are anti-theft / sheer bolts holding it on?

You will have to drill them out.

Only really lock manufacturing factories have equipment to make keys by code. Key cutting shops only have copying machines because most locks and keys don't have the number written anywhere that people could see it. That wouldn't be very secure!

rather than drill them out get a small chisel and where they have seared off on the dome side give it a couple of hits then chase it around with the chisel it only needs to go half a turn then you can undo it with your fingers
