Just been out to my shed for some oil and found this :

There'll only be one or two wasps in there, knock it off into a plastic bag, tie the top and squash it. You might find the wasp isn't home and will start again, spray the area with creosote or similar and they'll stay away!

If there is any wasps in, spray it with WD40, wait a couple of mins then spray again, then knock it into a bin bag.
The WD40 draws the fluid out of them and kills them.

Cheers guys a tin of spray adhesive came to hand and the nest got a good coating :D one wasp was at home but it now a bit sticky! Now bagged and binned :D

Be careful around disposing of wasps nets, as they can fly faster than you can run lol

ive heard of people filling them with expanding foam, not done it my self so dont no how well it works

Ant powder works well; but that is just a little one. I had one as big as a basket ball in a tree in the garden.

 

I paid a guy £45 to spray ant powder into the hole. The wasps went crazy for about 20 mins and then died.

 

I bust it open after a couple of days; a lot of work goes into making them.

Whatcha want to do is roll up yer sleeve an' stick yer hand up in there as far as it'll go.  Poke around fer a bit...see if you can feel anything...

I'm sure in the animated documentaries I watched as a kid, they used to recommend hitting them with an acme anti wasp stick
