HI guys, for anyone interested on Thursday night at 9pm there's a t.v programme called something along the lines of,  "Brian Johnson: Cars that Rock"

The first episode is about the mini (it says in the paper) And it says he gets tips from Paddy Hopkirk, for a race I think... sounds like its worth a look..

 

Old mini's and AC/DC, what's not to like?

 

Oh, there's also an episode coming up over the next couple weeks, cant remember exactly which week but it's on a sunday, called 'for the love of cars' on C4, they are going to restore a mk1 mini :)

So far they've done a mk1 escort mexico (with a little help from the Harris brothers!), a series 1 land rover, and a triumph stag, I think there's five or six cars to do altogether.

 

just letting you guys know, as its bound to be better than the usual crap on the telly, and it is a mini after all!

off topic sorry, but you a 2 stroke fan? just thought your username might be a wee nod to them. I love 2 strokes, was ready for buying a TZ the other day! but unfortunately I cant afford a bike AND a mini at the moment

really enjoyed this last night, fair play seems a proper down to earth bloke knowing hes minted. glad he brought the mini he raced in and it was good to see him chucking it around the track

When I heard them introduce the guy with the actual Italian job mini's I got quite interested, but technically they're not really the same cars are they?

They are very expensive replica's of the original cars rather than the ones drove in the movie, they don't have the bodyshells they wore in 1969, its not the same engines that pulled the minis through the chases, its not the seat that Michael Caine sat in, they're just not the real thing. albeit a very good copy.

 

But enjoyed the program, Johnson was a good laugh, and it was great to see him racing. Was brilliant when he clipped the grass! shows he was proper trying, and well chuffed when he said I've just bought this one!

I spent quite a while scouring the L2B 2013 shots to see if I could spot my Mini... It was just out of shot a few times.
