Fog Light Not Working

Everything has been working fine up until today. The fog light has stopped working, and the switch is not lighting up. I've checked the fuse (inline) and looks ok, having moved it with the lights on it got rather hot, and smoked slightly. (Obviously turned it off immediately!) and as the fuse and holder were looking particularly crusty I replaced the lot. So have got power to the switch but only momentarily before burns the fuse. The light does work but never turns on with the switch at this moment. Is this a faulty switch or something more serious. Sorry for the essay! Any help is appreciated!

Take the wire off the switch that goes back to the fog light and switch on, if its ok then the faults in the wire from switch to light. remove the bulb and check the holder in the lamp for signs of corrosion joining the pins, and if you have a tester check for any earth leakage on the front to rear cable while the wires off the switch.

The loom runs up the L/H Side windscreen piller along the roof and down into the boot, just do a contunity test on both ends of the wire to confirm its not broken and a leak to earth test at the same time. This will confirm the front/rear cable, this is where a Sealey Tester pays for its self ten fold, you can provide a 12v feed or earth at the flick of a switch, you can get the basic one without the lcd display for less than £22 here http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c301c2219
I can diagnose faults in a matter of minutes with my professional model, but the one above will do the same job, you need to understand circuits though its no magic wand
