Hi,

Had a great time at Thoresby show yesterday, while in convoy I was told my reverse light was coming on while driving. It seems to be only when I'm in 4th gear so I'm thinking its the wiring catching when selecting 4th, been told there are a couple of wires to adjust. Has anyone got a guide for this?

Thanks

have a look under the car below the gear stick

from memory there is a big nut on the side of the selector

screwing this in or out adjusts when the reversing lights come on

Hi mate i did see that your reverse lights came on when i passed you just at the exit.

All you need to do it unscrew the sensor in the selector box a little more and this should solve it. If it doesn't the unit may need replacing (very easy job)

If you remove the gear stick gaiter you can do it from inside quite easily and comfortably.

Please can anyone confirm what I'm looking for? Is it on this exploded picture?

Thanks

No, it's a cylindrical switch (as shown above) that is threaded into the side of the housing in no.1 of that diagram and has 2 wires running to it. It has a locknut too. Release the locknut and unscrew the switch a little, half a turn could be enough. Just keep checking it and adjusting it until it reliably switches on as you put it in reverse and is not on in 4th, then tighten the locknut. When you are finished make sure the wiring is well clear of the exhaust.

Okay, now I'm going to admit this stupidity :shy: , in my haste to crack on I forgot to turn off the ignition. So when under the car I made a few sparks when I connected the spanner. Before reverse lights came on in reverse and 4th gear, now I have no reverse lights. So as per usual I feel stupid and made it worse.

Anyway, bulbs look good so think I've just killed the rod switch I was trying to adjust. Does this sound about right? Just checking as I'm going to order a new one like this

Also no brake lights or indicators. Is it a fuse issue?

Yes. Probably. Id imagine you earthed the supply with the spanner.

Just check all the fuses. youll soon see. We've all done it or something similar.

Bungle beat me

Been out, 35A fuse blown :-)

Atleast I can try to replace that and then start again with the reverse adjustment :-)
