Fairly aggressive posts for an insurance company representative? Imagine if you need to claim and things aren't 100% on the paperwork  >_<

By no intentions am I being aggressive so I apologise if it comes across that way!

But when I'm having personal insults I have a right to stand up for myself.

As I said I have been on the VW scene since I was 16, I am fairly well known there and everyone knows the entext of my knowledge, I assist my partner in his own build that, like I said, WILL require an IVA so we are constantly looking up the regulation and ensuring that the IVA regs, MSA and FIA reg are being met in all instances. Which, isn't easy.

Regardless of where you work, you would surely be insulted by these comments as well.

I work for a broker so there is no way anyone would be able to remember the conditions and clauses for every scheme we have to offer.

I don't work in the claims team, and I was under the impression this was a hypothetical question so, if someone would like me to refer for a definitive answer then I will do.

However, it has been made clear that the user requesting this information would not misinform their insurance company, so I am not making the assumption that he/she would, but stating it is not the responsibility of the insurer to make sure that regulations are met to make sure a vehicle is road legal.

For instance, if a driver was pulled over in such a vehicle, the police officer wouldn't say "why has this not had an IVA" "I told my insurance company about the modifications and they didn't say anything" "Oh, OK".

It is down to the driver at the time to ensure that the vehicle is road legal. such as IVA test, tyre wear, bulbs, etc.

I will answer professional questions on a professional level, however it is very unfair to insult someone publicly, no matter who they are.

I didn't see a personal insult? Perhaps I missed that.

Of course you have the right to defend yourself.

I agree with the stance on IVA and your opinion on them too.

We INSURE your car, we don't offer advise.

Heck, we don't even ask if you car has a current MOT!

I was rather under the impression that just about the only service a broker offers IS advice.

If I'm driving to a pre-booked test my car might well not have a current MOT - but I'll still be covered. Also for the drive home if it fails on something minor and for the drive back for the re-test.......

I don't think any of us want our premiums to rise but what are the chances? We've already seen it in the press that the insurance companies are predicting price hikes so that's a loser from the word go.

Insurer's responsibility to make sure we are compliant...... If they aren't going to take some responsibility then they need to face the consequences. If they don't ask the question or at least make it a pre-condition that the car should have gone through IVA if it needs it then they can't then refuse to pay out if a car they have agreed to insure (and which has met all the requirements they DID impose) is involved in a crash. You don't get it both ways - well not in this instance, there are plenty of others where the insurance companies do get it both ways and I'd really like to see them getting stepped on because of it.

You've been involved in the VW scene since you were 16. Just out of curiosity how long is that then? I know you're not supposed to ask a woman her age but you brought it up.....

Agree, do not even get a quote from them, you open a can of worms you can't put a lid on.
