I just started my engine and can see air bubbles coming up from between the cylinder head nuts and studs.

Is this likely to be a head gasket?

1293 with new head studs and nuts

Thanks

Indicates compression leaking from the gasket to the stud holes by the look of it, what gasket did you use? Payen BK450 is the one to use, and if uprated studs/nuts what was the torque the supplier gave you to use. have you given the gasket a heat cycle and then re-torqued it?

Had the same with mine,

Use two seperate copper gaskets and they both leaked, real pain in the bum,

They did seal after awhile though

Bk450. Standard head studs/nuts but new. Haynes torque settings. 2 heat cycles. Was going to torque tomorrow until I found this today (2nd heat cycle)

50ft/lbs with dry studs, and your backing the stud off and then re-torquing? the blocks been checked with a straight edge and the head?

If I'm in a less pissed off mood tomorrow I'll try re torquing it.

Snapon straight edge was used all over block and head before re-fitting and both surfaces def flat

Don't be annoyed mate,

Give it a good run then re torque it,
If it still leaks don't worry mine did for awhile then just sealed itself

Re torqued and the bubbles are gone. But my compression is 140psi versus 160psi before new gasket :/
