As above really. I have taken the bitumen off the floor panels but it has left some residue where it all hasn't come off.
What's the best way of getting this off? Tried going over it again with hammer and old chisel but it's taken forever to do a small area and it still doesn't get it all.
Thanks in advance

it is a real pain to get it all off, sometimes it comes off very cleanly, sometimes it leaves a real mess!

i think once you have the worst off i seem to remember using thinners to soften it, then wiping it up with rags. i think, i cant remember for sure!

White spirit will do it. I didn't need to apply heat. Cleaned up lovely.

White spirit used here but make sure its a well ventilated area or you get the mother of all headaches as I found out years ago to my cost.

Heat gun and a good scraper, then thinners.

Petrol also works to remove it although not the safest method

Have an accident with break fluid... It will peel off in a day, and youll only have to wipe it off ..

Thanks for responses. Tried thinners on it and it didn't really do anything so just been out to get some white spirits to give that a go. Probably won't get any time till weekend tho.
Oh and if doesn't work, I may consider brake fluid but I think I will pass on the petrol.
Once and if it all comes off with the white spirits, do I need to clean it off with anything before I paint on it

Thanks

White spirit tends to leave residue so wipe it over with panel wipe after, horrible stuff is underseal never use it myself but taken enough of someone else's off, i also find a good wallpaper scraper works for large flat areas and only a small amount remains, bitumen is petroleum based which is why petrol gets it off, I have used it but only after scraping and just a rag dampened with it to wipe off last bits.
