My confidence in starting a MK1 resto project was dented this afternoon when it took me 4 hours to put together a kids swing and slide set. Failed to follow instructions, shouted at kids and made them cry, the finished article probably fails several crucial health and safety tests....and that's before I get my hands on a welding torch

Looks like an interesting one, I'd love to see some more pictures. Also it's not Friday. It's not time to be scouring ye eBay in a drunken rage. That's what Friday is for!

If you get bored of it I sure I could rustle up £950 and some room in my garage.
I don't think my wife could complain at that price.

Its going to be quite a while before we can start any restoration work proper, so I thought I would pick myself up some background reading
£3.15 eBay win, so I'm quite chuffed with that.
Also, turns out his original plate if currently on an Audi A4 Cabriolet, although I can't complain since its value is approximately 3 times what we paid for the car, but a shame never the less.
Still trying to figure out if Maroon was his original colour, some serious overspraying in the engine bay from when one of the wings was done. I'm thinking it still probably is the original, but going to have a better look at the weekend, if it EVER STOPS RAINING.

Tis a very good book my friend. especially for a beginner..
It does cover most things but not always in great detail.
Good reading fodder though.

Had a little bit of spare time, so cracked open the cling film seal on the doors to take a closer look and see if any of the electrics still worked. A lot of the loom seems to have either been chopped by previous owner or eaten by mice so I didn't hold out much hope. Still...
Main beam works, although no dipped, indicators or rears lights. Tom managed to switch them on without falling through the floor, so that was a plus..
This orange light works but I have no idea what its for!
I'm assuming this switch on the steering column is allow the button to the left of it to be used instead of the floor start?
which is still present next to the beautifully fashioned fibreglass mat, hand crafted by a previous owner.
Oh, and the horn still works
