Hi guys!

I was offered a 22G1128 Gearbox, (advertised as a Cooper S box?) with 22G1040 layshaft, 62/18 Diff. (3.44:1), in very good condition.

Can it be that it really did come from a Cooper S - should it have hadry spicers for inner CVs?

What would be the fair price?

This is the photo of it:

Thanks very much!!

Luka

As fitted to MK3 cooper S and early 1275 GT, the Cooper S would have been fitted with Hardy Spicer couplings while the 1275 GT would probably have had rubber couplings and some pot joints...

Good condition is relative to your expectations... in my experience, nothing is in good condition until it's been stripped checked and rebuilt so always factor that into any purchase.

From the limited vies you have of the gearbox in the photo, you cannot tell what sort of output shafts are installed, also the detent screw is missing from the front which could also mean it's missing the plug and spring, nto a big deal but you will need to replace them.

What price is being asked, as I bet it too much.

Hey Guess,

Thanks very much!

The asking was 200 Euros (some 165 quid) / what do you reckon? Worth it or?

The thing is, i am situated in Serbia, and finding one here is quite difficult, and i'm not paying for the shipping... I was thinking of finding one in the UK and shipping it here, but i guess that could end up being much more costly...

Cheers!

Luka

That's not unreasonable... I know people in the UK think that some broken dirty piece of ***** is worth more than that...
