got any pics ?

a 1990 cooper would have a carbed engine where as a 94 injection

Rover only made coopers the S bit was just a dealer add on kit so won't really make any difference to a shell

It might have been imported from Jersey or Guernsey etc, my bini Cooper came from northern Ireland at the start of this year, the paper work is now a right mess and has a special note in the comments box on the front page even though northern Ireland is part of the UK! What registration letter does it have?

No such thing as a Rover Cooper S. Before the systems were standardised and computerised cars got registered as all sorts of things because the paperwork was filled in by hand by people who didn't really know the subject or care, and then transcribed by several people onto the computers.

its on a H reg which is why i cant understand why it says date of registration 1994. 1990 is the year of manafacture on the log book and it comes up with no export or import markers. i guessed it was just a cooper its the year of manafacture and registraton that has me baffled

As I said, it's not unusual for the car to be misdescribed. There were no Austin Minis in 1990 either. If the person filling in the tax disc thinks of Minis as Austin Minis like many people do then that's what they will write.

There are a couple of different circumstances under which a car will be registered with an age related number if it's not new when registered. Does it say 'Declared new at first registration'?

There you go, my bini hasn't got a marker but I'm declared the first owner of a 58 reg I bought this year! My 87 mini city is registered as an Austin, I'm not sure when the last official Austin was but by then it would have been Austin rover at least.
